PH Stock Market Rebounds 3.5% as Valuations Hit Decade-Low Levels
Date: November 17, 2025 (Monday)
The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) staged a sharp rebound after sinking to more than five-year lows. The benchmark index surged 3.49% (+194.77 points) to close at 5,779.12, driven by bargain-hunting across major sectors.
Why the Rebound?
According to Rastine Mackie D. Mercado, Research Director at Chinabank Securities:
“The strong market performance and better breadth reflect improved buying appetite amid bargain-hunting— especially as forward P/E valuations dropped to decade-lows last Friday, alongside softening selling pressure.”
The PSEi had been down more than 11% year-to-date before today’s strong bounce.
Sector Performance
Almost all major sectors ended in the green:
- Financials: +4.73%
- Property: +4.15%
- Services: +2.97%
- Holding Firms: +2.07%
- Industrial: +1.80%
- Mining & Oil: −0.30%
Financials led the rally, signaling improving sentiment across the market.

What’s Next?
Mercado also commented on the technical outlook:
“Today’s rally sets the stage for a potential continuation move tomorrow, which could lead to a test of the 5,830 resistance level.”
“While it remains uncertain whether the sub-5,600 level was the near-term bottom, expectations of sustained earnings growth into next year should support valuations.”
