PSEi rebounds as big-cap stocks lift the market toward the 6,000 level
The Philippine Stock Exchange Index (PSEi) recorded a strong rebound on Thursday as index heavyweights in property, banking, and conglomerates fueled a broad-based technical rally. The benchmark index climbed 117.10 points (+2.01%) to close at 5,930.81, trimming its year-to-date decline to about 9%.
AP Securities analyst Shawn Atienza noted that the strong move was “mostly a technical bounce,” with no major catalysts driving sentiment. He added that the PSEi is now sitting just above the 5,930 resistance, and the next key level at 6,050 “is reachable before year-end” assuming consolidation continues.
